COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Since 1993, the University of Maryland's Office of Undergraduate Studies has selected a special book - a First Year Book - that is given to all incoming freshmen. "We want a book that stimulates discussion," says Assistant Dean Lisa Kiely, who oversees the program. The 2007 First Year Book does just that.
